Tuffer Tenons, Domino style loose tenons.

Cincinnati Dowel & Wood Products makes loose tenons to be used with the Festool Domino. They offer the Tuffer Tenon in oak, maple, cherry, walnut and mahogany.

Shown here side by side with the Festool tenon, you can see the Tuffer tenons have grooves running the length for increased glue dispersion.

Tuffer Tenons available is all of the same sizes as the Festool offers their tenons. In this picture, from left to right, we have cherry, oak, maple and oak again.

I had hoped to use these tenons for thru tenons, but the groove show in the joint.

I checked the Tuffer tenons with my calipers and found them to be very near the size as the Festool tenons. In the mortises both the Festool and the Tuffer tenons were a tight fit, with the Tuffer tenons being only slightly harder to fit it.

I really wanted to be able to use the Tuffer tenons for thru tenon joints using differanrt speices of wood for contrast. I did talk to Randy Daniel at Cincinnati Dowel & Wood Products about reducing the depth of the grooves, I think the Tuffer tenons could then be used for thru tenons. So maybe in the future they will change them. Tuffer Tenons at Cincinnati Dowel & Wood Products.
